Summer on Bribie

The Great Outdoors With spectacular scenery, rolling surf, and incredible wildlife, Bribie is the destination for swimming, camping, or just strolling along the pristine beaches. Solana offers an RV and boat park, so now is the time to put those recreational vehicles to good use! Woorim Beach is a great family-friendly destination for beach days with the grandkids, with a milder surf and year round safety patrol, plus it’s within easy walking distance to the World War II military installations for the history buff in the family. If you’re looking to relax on the water and do some fishing, you can take the boat out to the Pumicestone Passage, or if you prefer to let someone else do the driving, Bribie Island Ferryman cruises are the perfect way to see the sights, such as the Glass House Mountains and an actual shipwreck. The Passage is also home to amazing wildlife, such as turtles, dolphins, and over 350 bird species. If you’re looking for a more up close and personal bird watching experience, head over to Buckleys Hole Conservation Park, home to migratory species from all over the world! The Bicentennial Bushwalks offer an easy walk through the wetlands and eucalypt forests, while the southern end of the island has stunning white sand dunes and empty beaches for quiet strolls along the shore. For the more adven-turous spirits, there are jet skis, 4-wheelers, and even skydiving experiences!
Sandstone Point Hotel One of Bribie Island’s top venues for dining and entertainment, the Sandstone Point Hotel is home to the famous Oyster Shed, and big name concert events from the Beach Boys to Jimmy Barnes. The perfect place for dinner out with locally sourced menu items, the hotel also caters to the grandkids with a free petting zoo and a state-of-the-art playground. If you’re looking to ring in the New Year in style, the Sandstone has a full day planned with live music, entertainment, rides, food, and of course a spectacular family fireworks display at 8:30 for the little ones, and again at midnight for those who are ready to dance the night away!
Australia Day Celebrate in true Aussie style with a day at the beach! Head over to Brennan Park for a free, fun filled day of sun and sand. From beach volleyball to sack races, ice cream eating contests, and live entertainment, you’ll find everything for the young and young at heart to enjoy! Wrap it all up with an incredible fireworks display over Pumicestone Passage at 8pm.
